Suffolk Events Coordinator – East Anglian Traditional Music Trust
Based in Suffolk | 10hrs a week plus 10 additionally days | 12-month contract (from June 2025)
Hourly rate £14.50

We’re looking for a passionate and creative Events Coordinator to join the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust for an exciting part-time role based in Suffolk. If you’re someone who loves local culture, enjoys working with people, and wants to make a difference in your community through music, song, and dance – we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who thrives on community engagement, event coordination, and celebrating cultural heritage.
Your work will be split across two key areas:
1. Traditional Music Day (Stowmarket)
Help us bring Traditional Music Day to life – a vibrant one-day event across venues in Stowmarket featuring musicians, dancers, storytellers, talks, and workshops. You’ll coordinate artists, venues, and volunteers and help raise awareness and excitement around the event.
2. Community & School Events (West Suffolk, Mid Suffolk & Babergh)
Organise and promote community afternoons of music, song, and dance, plus engaging workshops in schools and local venues. You’ll be a key link between EATMT and local communities, musicians, schools, and groups.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be someone who loves people and local culture and is ready to roll up your sleeves and make things happen. You don’t need to be a traditional music expert – just someone who’s eager to support and grow its reach across Suffolk.
Essential Skills:
- Confident with social media and creating engaging content
- Project and event management experience
- Good with volunteers and working with local communities
- Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities
- A flexible, friendly, and proactive attitude
Desirable (but not essential):
- An artist or performer interested in East Anglian traditional music, song, or dance
- Workshop delivery experience
- Fundraising knowledge or interest in developing these skills
Time Commitment
- 10 hours per week (flexible schedule)
- 10 additional days across the year, especially leading up to events
Why Join Us?
At EATMT, we believe traditional music is a living, breathing part of our region’s identity. This role offers the chance to play a hands-on part in celebrating and preserving that heritage – while connecting people and making joyful memories.
How to Apply
To express your interest or for more information, contact us at info@eatmt.co.uk or ring 07495054669
Alternatively send us your CV and covering letter to Jannine Parry, Operations Manager info@eatmt.co.uk
Application deadline 12th May 2025
Interviews week commencing 17th May 2025
EATMT currently has a part time Operations Manager who will be supervising and supporting this position and a small list of regular volunteers who come with a set of various skills. We also have a small bank of self employed artists/project workers that we are able to bring in to help run projects and a small number of schools who are happy to get involved with various projects.
There is a great deal of opportunity to be creative within the remit of the Trust and there is a willing community – both locally, nationally and from the wider folk scene – to offer advice and support to enable that creativity to happen.
