JOB DESCRIPTION – EAST ANGLIAN TRADITIONAL MUSIC TRUST (EATMT)

Job Title: Events Promoter – Traditional Music Day

Reports To: Project Director

Liaises with: Artistic Director, Projects Co-ordinator, Volunteer Administrator, Volunteers and Trustees as appropriate.

Contract: 19 month fixed term (March 2026 – September 2027)

Hours: 1 days a week or 7.5 hours per week but prepared to be flexible based on the needs of the Trust and job role.


Job Purpose

The Events Promoter will be responsible for managing, organising, and promoting EATMT activities in partnership with the Project Director, Artistic Director, Project Co-ordinator, and volunteers on the Traditional Music Day (TMD) Committee.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To manage all marketing aspects of Traditional Music Day including marketing using traditional, digital, and social media channels.
  • To assist with promoting other events of the Trust and encourage attendance and participation across the events.
  • To be responsible for marketing activities including traditional print advertising, website details, social media support and liaison with groups and community organisations in Stowmarket, Suffolk.
  • To contribute to the EATMT monthly newsletter as well as assisting with distribution (print and online).
  • To liaise with the Town and District Councils, and Councillors (especially those supporting the Trust with locality grants), Chamber of Commerce and other businesses.
  • To assist the Volunteer Administrator with the recruitment of volunteers for Traditional Music Day and other events.
  • To develop further fundraising strategies including donations using card readers, buckets and signage emphasising the importance of contributions to the day. 

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience supporting or delivering arts, music, or cultural projects.
  • Experience working with volunteers, staff or trustees in a community or arts setting.
  • Good understanding of digital communication including social media platforms, websites, and newsletter tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email systems, and digital administration tools.
  • Understanding of marketing principles, particularly digital and social media strategies.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while also being an effective team member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence liaising with a wide range of people including artists, partner organisations, schools, community groups, volunteers, and funders.
  • Ability to contribute creative ideas to event development, earned income opportunities, and marketing approaches.

  • Commitment to inclusivity, safeguarding, and community engagement.
  • Willingness to work flexibly including some weekends and evenings.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training (safeguarding, health, and safety etc).
  • Ability to co-ordinate volunteer activities.
  • Ability to represent the Trust positively at events.
  • Ability to co-ordinate project activities away from the office.
  • Ability to support the Project Director with both practical event delivery and strategic planning.

Desirable

  • Background or strong personal interest in traditional folk music, dance, or cultural heritage.
  • Health and safety training (including risk assessments for events).
  • Safeguarding training (particularly relating to children or vulnerable adults).
  • First aid training.
  • Experience using design or digital media tools e.g. Canva, Publisher, basic video editing.
