Summary 

EATMT is dedicated to promoting traditional music across East Anglia. We are seeking a reliable and detail-focused Freelance Bookkeeper. We work closely with schools, community groups, and cultural organisations to preserve and celebrate traditional and local folk music heritage. 

About the Role 

This is a flexible freelance position ideal for someone who enjoys meaningful work behind the scenes. You will help ensure our finances are accurate, compliant, and well-organised, supporting our events, and community projects across the region. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintain accurate monthly financial records, including income from workshops, performances, grants, and community projects. 
  • Process invoices, expenses, and payments. 
  • Reconcile bank accounts and prepare monthly financial summaries for the team and trustees. 
  • Track restricted and unrestricted funds, including grants for school and community programmes. 
  • Ensure compliance with charity financial regulations and internal controls. 
  • Support preparation of annual accounts and the independent examination. 

About You 

  • Experienced bookkeeper (AAT or equivalent qualification desirable). 
  • Ideally familiar with charity finance or arts/culture sector finances. 
  • Proficient with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage). 
  • Highly organised, accurate, and able to work independently. 
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach. 
  • A passion for traditional music and dance and community-based projects is a plus.
